Ao ter sua série de livros “4 Elements” comprada para adaptação em quatro GLs de exibição mútua, a escritora Salmon conta como as histórias se interligam e suas expectativas para a produção

Para aumentar ainda mais o número de GLs (Girls Love) em 2025, a produtora Idol Factory, IDF, comprou os direitos de adaptação para audiovisual da série de livros “4 Elements”, da autora Salmon. Chamado de Sapphic Series Mega Project, o projeto é dividido entre os títulos “The Earth”, “The Fire”, “The Air” e “The Water”, e têm animado os fãs a cada nova revelação.

Com o intuito de juntar quatro dos principais casais de GLs e seus fandoms, a IDF revelou aos fãs, por meio de emojis, na página oficial da produção, quem eram as atrizes escaladas para cada personagem. Em meio a animação, ocorreuram as especulações de que FreenBecky, FayeYoko, Englot e NamnuengNoey contracenariam juntas.

Salmon já é conhecida por sua novels de sucesso e antes da série de livros ser comprada pela IDF, a escritora teve cinco obras cotadas para adaptação para GLs, sendo elas: “The Dragon”, “The Tiger” e “The Swan”, pela mesma empresa; “Built in Love”; e “Queendom”.

Para saber mais sobre as expectativas para a adaptação dos livros e as histórias contadas neles, o Lesbocine entrevistou Salmon. A escritora contou como os enredos e as personagens se interligam, além de convidar os fãs a acompanharem as quatro séries.

Lesbocine: Para começar, você pode nos contar como essas quatro histórias estão interligadas? Como os personagens de cada uma delas se relacionam?

Salmon: Na minha série de livros “4 Elements”, as quatro personagens principais são primas. Seus pais são todos irmãos. Deixe-me explicar para que tenham uma ideia mais clara da família ‘Vatinvanit’.

Começando com Din Kasama, de “A Terra”, seu pai é o Sr. Kasidit, proprietário da fazenda Sanrak, na província de Chiang Rai. Em seguida, temos Nam Arpo, de “A Água”, filha de Adisorn e seu pai é dono de hotéis e resorts sob o grupo Vatin em Hua Hin. Depois, há Lom Vayo, de “O Ar”, cujo pai é o General da Polícia Vatid, servindo em Bangkok. Por fim, Fire Atjima, de “O Fogo”, é filha de Akkani, um homem rico da província sul da Tailândia, dono de uma ilha privada, uma mina e uma plantação de óleo de palma na província de Surat Thani.

Elas vivem em diferentes partes da Tailândia e a minha intenção foi retratar histórias com temas usando cada região da Tailândia como cenário. Eu quis conectar as quatro histórias fazendo com que os personagens se visitassem de tempos em tempos. Os quatro personagens definitivamente aparecerão em todos os livros da série “4 Elements”.

Lesbocine: To start, can you tell us how these four stories are interconnected? How do the characters from each of them relate to one another?

Salmon: In my “4 Elements” book series, the four main characters are cousins. Their fathers are all siblings. Let me explain it so you will get a better picture of the ‘Vatinvanit’ family.

Starting from Din Kasama from “The Earth”, her father is Mr. Kasidit, the owner of the Sanrak farm in Chiang Rai province. Next, Nam Arpo from “The Water” is Adisorn’s daughter and her father owns the hotels and resorts that were under the Vatin group Hua Hin. Then there is Lom Vayo from “The Air”, her father is the Police General Vatid who is stationed in Bangkok. Lastly, Fire Atjima from “The Fire”, her father is Akkani, a wealthy man in the Southern province of Thailand, he owns a private island, a mine, and an oil palm farm in Surat Thani province.

They all live in different parts of Thailand. It was my intention to portray stories under themes, using every region in Thailand as the story’s location. And I want to connect all four stories by making them visit each other from time to time. The four characters will definitely appear in every book in the “4 Elements” series.

L: Quais foram suas inspirações ao criar essas histórias?

S: Normalmente gosto de conectar cada história de uma série com algum tipo de conceito, como no meu trabalho anterior, #PlerngmangkonTheSeries, que é um romance com tema de máfia. Desta vez, quis criar algo novo para minha série de livros, algo diferente do que já escrevi antes.

Escolhi o conceito dos quatro elementos – terra, água, ar e fogo – para que cada livro tivesse sua própria singularidade. Esses elementos são o que equilibram o mundo na natureza. Quero que meus leitores experimentem essas histórias e percebam que elas se complementam, equilibrando-se mutuamente.

L: What were your inspirations when creating these stories?

S: Normally I like to connect each story in a book series under some kind of concept, like my previous work, #PlerngmangkonTheSeries, which is a mafia-themed novel. So this time, I want to create something new for my book series that is different from what I used to write before.

I chose the concept of the four elements – earth, water, air, and fire – so that each book has its own uniqueness. These elements are what make the world balanced in nature. I want my readers to experience these stories and realize they complement each other, balancing one another out.

L: Há alguma mensagem central ou tema que você gostaria que os leitores absorvessem?

S: Apresento quatro temas diferentes nos livros. Acredito que meus leitores irão identificar os temas independentemente de qual livro lerem primeiro.

Começando com “A Terra”, Din Kasama é calorosa, firme e confiável, como a terra que nos mantém firmes. Ela conhece Rose Tippapha, que a completa com sua alegria. É uma história reconfortante de se ler.

Depois, em “A Água”, Nam Arpo é calma e equilibrada, inteligente e perspicaz, como a água que corre profunda. Ela conhece Lada Chonlada, que é sua equivalente em astúcia e inteligência. É uma história de amor que é um verdadeiro duelo de mentes, desafiadora e imprevisível, como as ondas do oceano.

Já em “O Ar”, Lom Vayo é carismática e encantadora, conectando-se bem com todos, como o vento que sopra por toda parte, trazendo conforto. Ela conhece a Princesa Catherine Blue De Lena, alguém muito superior em status social. Lom precisa proteger a princesa com sua vida, o que a leva a encontrar seu propósito e decidir que direção quer tomar na vida.

Por último, em “O Fogo”, Fire Atjima é a prima mais jovem, então ela é um pouco mimada e temperamental. Ela tende a ser mais movida pelas emoções do que pela razão, como um fogo ardente. Ela conhece Kaprao Atitaya, que é o tipo de pessoa que não permite ser controlada por ninguém. Ela é como óleo para o fogo de Fire. É a história mais intensa de todas.

L: Is there a central message or theme you’d like readers to take away from them?

S: I present four different themes in the books. I believe that my readers would know their themes no matter which book they read first.

Starting from “The Earth”, Din Kasama is warm, steadfast, and reliable like the Earth which keeps us grounded. She meets Rose Tippapha who completes her with her cheerfulness. This is a heartwarming story to read.

Next, “The Water”, Nam Arpo is calm and collected, she is clever and smart, like how water runs deep. She meets Lada Chonlada who is her match in wit and intelligence. Her love story is a battle of wit, of outsmarting one another. It is challenging and hard to predict like the ocean waves.

Then there is “The Air”, Lom Vayo is a charismatic, charming person. She gets along well with everyone like the wind that blows everywhere and puts people at ease. She meets Princess Catherine Blue De Lena, someone who is so much higher in social status. Lom has to protect the princess with her life and it makes her find her purpose. She will find which direction she wants to take in life.

Then lastly, “The Fire”, Fire Atjima is the youngest cousin so she is quite spoiled and has a temper. She tends to let her emotions take over her more than reason like a fire that burns hot. She meets Kaprao Atitaya who is the type of person who refuses to let anyone walk over her, she is like oil to Fire. This is the most heated story out of the four books.

L: Qual dos quatro elementos foi o mais desafiador de criar, e por quê?

S: Acredito que cada história tem seus próprios encantos e sabores únicos. É como quatro pratos nos quais trabalhei muito para criar e acho que cada pessoa terá seu prato favorito. 

Mas, se tivesse que escolher, diria que “O Ar” foi o mais desafiador, tanto no livro quanto na série de TV. É a história com mais cenas de ação e se passa em muitos locais, mais do que o restante da série. Acho que foi bastante desafiador. Estou ansiosa para ver as atrizes que interpretarão os dois personagens principais dessa história. Quero ver como elas darão vida a esses papéis.

L: Which of the four elements was the most challenging to create, and why?

S: I think every story has its own charms and different flavors. It’s like four dishes that I put so much work into creating and I think every person will have their own favorite dish.

But if I had to choose, I’d say “The Air” is the most challenging both in the book and in the TV series. It has the most action scenes and it takes place in so many locations, more than the rest of the book series. I think it’s quite challenging. I look forward to seeing the actresses who play the two main characters in this story. I want to see how they will portray it.

L: Qual foi sua reação ao receber a notícia sobre essa incrível produção baseada em suas histórias?

S: Para ser honesta, fui contatada e recebi essa oportunidade incrível antes e esperei cerca de seis meses pela decisão se eles realmente queriam fazer uma adaptação da série de livros “4 Elements”. Durante esse tempo, não disse uma palavra sobre esse projeto confidencial até que tudo estivesse em andamento e quando aprovaram o projeto, senti-me muito honrada por fazer parte dessa grande série de TV.

Estou muito feliz porque mais pessoas conhecerão meus livros depois que eles forem adaptados para a TV. Por isso, quero agradecer a todos os meus leitores, meus fãs e aos fãs das atrizes que participarão da série no futuro, por apoiarem meu trabalho.

L: What was your reaction when you received the news about this incredible production based on your stories?

S: To be honest, I got contacted and offered this incredible opportunity before and waited for their decision on whether or not they wanted to make an adaptation of the “4 Elements” book series about half a year ago. I hadn’t said a word about this confidential project during that time until everything was set in motion. When they approved the project, I felt so honored to be a part of this big TV series project. I am overjoyed that more people will know about my books after they become a TV series. That’s why I want to thank all of my readers, my fans, and the actresses’ fans, whoever will be featured in the series in the future, for supporting my work.

L: Você tem uma personagem ou história favorita entre os “4 Elements”?

S: Adoro todas as personagens dessas quatro histórias e acho que cada uma é única e encantadora à sua maneira. Não consigo escolher uma favorita, mas espero que o público se encante com as personagens que criei nessa série de livros. Espero que o público se apaixone por elas.

L: Do you have a favorite character or story among the “4 Elements”?

S: I adore every character in those four stories and I think everyone is unique and charming in their own way. I cannot pick a favorite, but I do hope that the audience will be charmed by the characters that I created in this book series. I hope the audience will fall in love with them.

L: Quais são as suas expectativas para essas adaptações?

S: Espero que as quatro histórias sejam bem adaptadas para a série de TV. Entendo que há algumas mudanças no roteiro quando um romance é adaptado para a TV e aceito isso. Espero que a série mantenha parte do mesmo charme e da mesma atmosfera da versão dos livros e o mesmo vale para todas as atrizes e atores que interpretarão os personagens das histórias.

Estou ansiosa para ver cada atriz e ator interpretando seus papéis. Por fim, espero que essa série “4 Elements” contribua para o crescimento e fortalecimento da mídia sáfica no futuro.

L: What are your expectations for these adaptations?

S: I hope that the four stories will be well-adapted into a TV series. I understand that there will be some changes in the screenplay when a novel is adapted into a TV series and I accept that. I expect that the series will still have some of the same charms and vibes as the novel version. The same goes for all of the actresses and actors who will play the characters in the stories.

I’m looking forward to seeing each actress and actor’s interpretation of the character. Lastly, I expect that this “4 Elements” series will be a part that makes Sapphic media grow and thrive in the future.

L: Como você se sentiu ao ouvir os nomes do elenco escolhido para o projeto?

S: Na verdade, descobri o elenco ao mesmo tempo que todos, durante o evento de anúncio do projeto da série. Até agora, não há uma lista oficial sobre quem será escalado para qual história, nunca foi confirmado.

Como disse na última entrevista, como escritora, apoio o elenco que interpreta os papéis, não importa quem sejam. Não só na série “4 Elements”, mas em todas as histórias que são adaptadas para a TV. Sempre estarei torcendo pelo elenco. E gostaria de pedir aos meus leitores que apoiem o elenco e a série que estará no ar em breve.

L: Tell us how you felt when you heard the names of the cast chosen for the project.

S: Actually, I just learned about the cast at the same time as everyone at the series project announcement event. Even now, there is no official list of who will be the cast in which story; it has never been confirmed.

As I said in the last interview, as a writer, I am supportive of the cast who play the roles, no matter who they are. Not just in the “4 Elements” series but in every story that gets adapted into a TV show. I will be rooting for the cast, always. And I would like to ask my readers to be supportive of the cast and the show that will be on-air soon.

L: Você tem alguma mensagem para compartilhar com os fãs que aguardam ansiosamente por essa série? Algum spoiler que possa revelar para deixá-los ainda mais animados?

S: Não sei o quanto posso revelar agora. Então, terei que pedir a todos que aguardem por minhas atualizações futuras.

De qualquer forma, acho que será incrível assistir a quatro séries conectadas que estarão no ar por um longo tempo, até o meio do ano. L: Do you have any message you’d like to share with the fans eagerly awaiting these series? Any spoiler you can reveal to get everyone even more excited?

S: I don’t know how much I can give you the spoilers right now. So I’d have to ask everyone to wait for my future updates.

Anyway, I think it will be wonderful to watch four connected series that will be on-air for a long time until the middle of the year. Lastly, I would like to thank Lesbocine for giving me this amazing opportunity to connect with my inter fans again via this interview. Obrigada!
